Lava deltas are made in the same shape and form that a river delta is made. The lava flows down the side of a volcano and empties out into the ocean or a crater. The delta is shaped like a fan and forms new land. Sometimes lava deltas form along submarine volcano chains. As the lava cools off and turns into hard rock.
