| Hummocks are formed from layers of lava and are made up of large rock fragments that have been broken from larger rocks. They form during volcanic landslides when the weaker layers of lava collapse. After the landslide large masses of rock fragments that are hundreds of meters in diameter are left in these heaps. | ||||||||
