Vulcanian eruptions are explosive. During this type of eruption new lava fragments sail through the air, but the fragments do not become rounded. This is because the lava pieces have cooled off enough for the shape to not change. Breadcrust bombs and blocks are thrown out of the volcano during a vulcanian eruption. The minerals in the magma of volcanoes that have vulcanian eruptions are made up of andesite and dacite.
