|In Chapters 15 and 16, Annemarrie got stopped by the soilders. She remembered her mother had told her that if she got stopped by the soldiers, that she should act like nothing but a silly little girl taking her uncle his lunch.
When the Nazis stopped her she replied how she thought Kirsti would. The soilders' dogs tore through the food, but what was in the package was a supprise to Annemarie, it was just a handkercheif. The German soldiers laughed at her and said that their wives did more for them than just sitting at home making them handkerchiefs!!!
Anniemarie raced down to her uncle's ship. He thanked her, and said that this wasn`t just any handkerchief, it had a smell, that if the soilders' dogs sniffed it they wouldn`t be able to smell the Jews they were taking to Sweden.
