The Holocaust
The Holocaust began in 1938. Adolph Hitler and the Nazis began putting people in concentration camps. The camps were in horrible conditions. the bread had sawdust in it instead of flour, they had to sleep on hard wooden boards, and guards in the camps would beat the prisoners for no reason. Most of the prisoners were Jews. In one camp called Auschwitz(OWSH-vits) some of the Nazi doctors would use cruel medical experiments on prisoners. In 1938 the Nazis started capturing Jews and sending 20,000 to 30,000 of them to concentration camps. The horrible Holocaust finally ended in 1945. About 12 million people were killed during the Holocaust, about 6 million of them being Jews.
