Theodore Roosevelt
Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt was born in 1858 to a wealthy family in New York. He loved to read as a child. He first married Alice Hathaway Lea. They had one child, Alice on February 14. His mother died on that same day. He later married Edith Carow, and had five more children. He was the 26 president of the United States. He won the Nobel Peace Prize for ending the war between Russia and Japan. He also started the Panama Canal project. He was the first president to own and do many things. For example, ride in a car, in an airplane, and travel over seas. He had his photo taken in Paris, France. Can you believe he was the first president to have a phone in his house?! He had eight pets, one of them was a bear cub! He had a habit of drinking a gallon of coffee every day! Teddy Roosevelt died January 6, 1919.
