Corporate OwnersThose who have formed a corporation to usually own more than one radio station to create a station group or network.
Private OwnersThose who own a station personally and may be a family business.
General ManagerOne who oversees the entire workings of the station. All other Managers and directors report to the GM. May also manage more than one station.
Station ManagerOne who manages the day-to-day operation of the station, May also be the general Manager. Negotiates contracts and determines the overall direction of the station to ensure profitability.
General Sales ManagerOversees the entire sales force, national and local. Determines goals, quotas, and prospects.
Local Sales ManagerManages the local sales force. Works with the other departments for spot production and traffic. Tracks goals, quotas, and sales contests.
Account Executive and National AE-Sales persons responsible for qualifying, developing and contracting advisers to buy commercial airtime between programming or to sponsor segments. The national accounts are those advertisers whose business is national, i.e. McDonalds, Coca-Cola. If successful, the sales force produces revenue for the station and financial resources to operate the station.
Sales AssistantsThose who assist the account executives.
Traffic Manager or DirectorOne who determines commercial spot placement during the programming day and week. Special care is taken to not place spots of similar content back-to-back.
Traffic AssistantOne who assists the traffic director.
Program Director or ManagerOne who determines the format of the station. Approves and reviews play lists of music and program segments.
News Director, Reporter, and AnchorThose who research, write, and report the news events of the day.
Segment ProducerOne who determines topics, questions for interviews and special programming separate from music and news programming.
ResearchersThose who will research and number of topics, people and events for the news department, contests, or points of interest.
Sports DirectorOne who writes and reports on sports events.
On Air TalentAnyone who reports, comments, interviews, or performs "on the air". May assist in commercial spot production or "voice over" work.
Station AssistantsThose who assist with various aspects of the station.
Music DirectorsSee program director. Relating only to music and programming.
Production DirectorOne who manages all aspects of program production.
Technical DirectorOne who manages all technical aspects of programming and production. Must have expertise in sound perfection.
