Yellow Pages
Reuben H. Donnelly expanded on the idea of the telephone directory in 1886 and created the very first yellow pages directory. It featured business names and phone numbers based on product types and services offered.
Ham Radios
Guglielmo Marconi first discovered the ability to use electromagnetic waves to send signals over long distances. He is considered the father of the ham radio, because others started toying with this concept after his discovery.
Owen K. Garriot was the first to take a ham radio and use it as a means of communication while in space. The ham radio is now used for students to communicate with astronauts while they're in space.
Oddly enough, eh?
