How to save the Rainforests

These are some of the things that you can do:

1. Adopt- you can join the Adopt an Acre program. For this you can call [415]338-3393 or their fax which is [415] 388-2295. Adopting a rainforest means that they can NOT cut it down, because it’s yours.

2. Write a letter- you can write a letter to your senator and explain to him why you think that they shouldn’t cut them down.

3. Recycle paper- by recycling paper you are helping the rainforest because paper comes from trees and there are lots of trees in the rainforest. In your classroom there should be a recycling box , if not arrange for there to be one.

4.use less oil products- this is helping the rainforest because oil extraction is very harmful to the rainforest. You can also ask your mom and dad if some day they could pick you up from school walking instead of driving. This way you are using less oil products.

5. Eating less meat- eating less meat helps to save the rainforest because they have to burn the rainforest and then kill the animals for meat. You van help by telling your mom and dad that when they go to a restaurant to order something that doesn’t have meat in it.

6. Help raise money- helping raise money helps the rainforest because the money that you collect will go to Protect- An -Acre. They will give the money to the native people who live there so they can protect the land they live on. For $25 or more you will receive a Protect-an -Acre certificate. You can send your donations to: RAN Protect-An-Acre, 221 pine st.#500/San Francisco/ca 94104.

Learn more on the rainforest- learning more on the rainforest helps it by letting people join to help save them. When you know about a rainforest you can encourage people to help you too.
