What is a Forest?

A forest is a large area of plant-life and undergrowth. The boreal type of forest is the most common. It is located up north in such places as Canada and northern parts of Europe. This type of forest has one third of the world’s forest area. They have an enormous amount of plant-life, such as: pines, black and white spruces, Tamarack and Jack pines.

This beautiful terrain also has nearly 1,000 different species of animals. It has over 200 species of birds, and a home for hundreds of other animals like moose, caribou, bears, coyotes, etc.

Boreal forests also hold never explored wetlands, such as: bodies of freshwater lakes, streams, marshes, rivers and steam bursting geysers.
This beautiful part of the world is very large and could be very dangerous. If stranded in the wilderness you would have know a lot about it and study it as well. That would be hard for us because almost all of the forest area up north has never been explored, and there is still a lot to learn about this environment. Still, there are a lot of public forests you can visit for a vacation and go camping such as: the famous Yellowstone and many others located in northern U.S. and parts of Canada.

The climate and weather conditions can be very peaceful or very dangerous. The forest mostly has all types of weather. It is very seasonal. The summer has sunshine and winds; the winter has breezes and snow etc. Winters in the forest can get really cold. The temperatures like mad. It could get so cold, it could literally explode trees. As apposed in the summer, it could get really hot.
