Forest Regions of the
World
There are mainly two types of forests, Taiga (boreal)
and rainforest. Taiga, is the type of forest in which Brian from Hatchet , was
stranded.
The forest region is usually located in the northern hemisphere. There are many
famous parts of the world that are Taiga: such as, Yellowstone and the Appalachian
Mountains located in the U.S., and all of the Canadian wilderness. In Europe,
there are the Swiss Alps.
There is a different type of forest, very similar to the Taiga, called the Temperate
rainforest. It is found mostly in South America but can be found in other parts
of the world as well. In the temperate rain forest the climate is more humid
and damp. There are also more bodies of water in this area. The plant life is
a little different. The Temperate rainforest, also is more of a swamp, than
a forest.
