The Lakota called the Badlands Makoce Sica....meaning Badlands.
There was nothing remarkable about this area, except
that it was part of the Sioux territory. The Lakota did not live in
the Badlands for long periods of time because of the lack of water
. They camped there when they passed through while hunting.
They followed the paths of the animals. The buffalo moved through the Badlands.
