At the plantation village, we learned that in the olden days, the people had to create their own activities and instruments with the the things they had around them. The people didn't have games to play with like we have now. Here are some clips of the games and activities we participated in.

This is the buzzsaw which was a game the children would play. We threaded a string through two holes in the bottle cap, winded up the string, and pulled.

Here we are in the bath house, playing with wooden boats. You winded up the piece of wood in the rubber band and put the boat in the water.

Mr. Tokuda gave us pieces of papaya stalk to blow bubbles. We dipped the stalk into the bubble mixture and blew through the other end.

This is the Geta relay. There were two wooden slippers attached to each other as one long slipper. Two people would put their feet in the slippers and race other teams.

These are the Ka'eke'ekes that we played. They are two pieces of bamboo of unequal lengths that are hit on the ground to make noise.

We also learned to played the nose flute and some other Hawaiian instruments
