Third Class

From the diary of: Kathryn O’Leary

April 12 Friday-      I can’t believe that I’m on my way to America. I also happen to be on the unsinkable Titanic. We even get serve our meals on board. The ticket was $35 but I think it was worth it.  I’m traveling with my older sister Kaitlin. She’s 13.I’m also traveling with Mary and Brian. Mary is 3 and Brian is an infant. I’m kind of sad to be leaving Ireland, but my parents are both dead and my only other relatives are in America. I also like the bunk beds!

April 14 Sunday-    I attended the service today in the 1st class section. I had no idea that people lived in that kind of splendor. I would love to live like that every day1

Later-      I was asleep in my bunk bed and it must have been about midnight. Suddenly the ship jerked and I nearly fell out of bed! My sister is going to check out the situation. my little brother is crying. I'd better go see what's wrong.

April 15 Monday-     I'm still in the lifeboat after being in here for 4 hours. All of my family survived, thank goodness. Many people didn't though. the sounds of their screams will haunt me forever.
