An avalanche is when a mass of snow slides down a mountain slope. It is caused by weather conditions. There are three types of avalanches. They are:
Dry snow avalanche – an avalanche with powdery snow and wind up to 100
Wet snow avalanche – an avalanche with wet, dense snow that moves
Slab avalanche – an avalanche that has solid parts of snow that breaks
loose as a slab and splits into pieces as it slides.
are two main ways that avalanches are prevented. First, explosives are used to
reduce snow build up. Second, trees are replanted on slopes and erect barriers.
