Margaret Peterson Haddix is the author of several books including Just Ella,
Among the Hidden, Running out of Time, Turnabout, Leaving Fishers, Don't You
Dare Read This Mrs. Dunphrey, and The Girl With 500 Middle Names. She has
won several awards including the International Reading Associations Award, Children's
Book Award, American Libary Association Best Books for Young Adults and Quick
Pick for Reluctant Young Adult Readers citations, and several state reader's choice
awards. Here in our state of South Carolina, Mrs. Haddix's book Among the Hidden
was a Junior Book Award Nominee in 2000-01 and Just Ella is a nominee
for the 2001-02 award.
    Mrs. Haddix grew up near Washington Court House, Ohio and now lives in
Clarks Summit, Pennsyvania with her husband and two children Conner and
Meredith. She worked for several years as a reporter for The Indianapolis News,
and also taught at the Danville Area Community College in Danville, Illinois.
