Chapter 1- In this chapter Luke gets caught outside when he is not to be. Then they heard tires on the driveway.

Chapter 2 This chapter explains that there are not supposed to be third children and what he can do and not to do.

Chapter 3There was a knock at the door and Luke had to go hide. He is also looking out the vents to see what is happening out side with the woods being torn down.

Chapter 4Luke in this chapter is still spying on what the people are doing with the woods.

Chapter 5 In this chapter Luke's family has to get rid of there hogs because of the new house don't want the smell.

Chapter 6The family gives the hogs to the tax collector when he comes two weeks later, and Luke's mom might go back to work.

Chapter 7- The houses were almost finished behind Luke's house, and Luke couldn't see what they were doing because they were working on the inside. Luke now sits around reading all the books over and over again.

Chapter 8- In this chapter the houses had people moved in and they all had names like the big car family and the sports family. He also cleaned the dishes and cleaned the house and made bread for dinner. Then Luke got in trouble for helping because he would be noticed. He sees a kids face in the sports family's house.

Chapter 9- A face doesn't appear anymore in the sports family's house. Luke's mom explains everything to him about what he did with the cleaning and why he got into trouble.

Chapter 10 In this chapter they are eating and the make fun of Luke's bread. Then he goes up the look at the houses again.

Chapter 11- He kept seeing thing s like blinds moving up and down and the lights and even a T.V. screen on in the sports family's house.

Chapter 12- Luke is wanting to go to the sports family's house but he is to nervous. So one day he wakes up  and makes sure that all the people were gone. Then he goes out the back door.

Chapter 13- Luke had gone behind the barn and is walking to the sports family's house and all of a sudden he ran over the and the door was locked at the sports family's house.

Chapter 14- Luke gets in the house after ripping the screen and he hears the alarm go off. Then around the corner there was a computer with a girl there. She hopped up and pinned him to the floor.

Chapter 15- Luke meets a girl named Jen. The alarm went off so Jen had to call and tell her dad to not send security. The two talk for a while and get to know each other.

Chapter 16- Luke and Jen go to Jens house. They have figured out how to tell each other when it is all right to come over. They talk to Jens friends in the chat room.

Chapter 17- Luke goes the Jens an she went shopping the day before at the mall. Then they had soda and potato chips that were illegal because they are more than two shadow children.

Chapter 18- Luke is worried that while he is in the chat room with Jen the government might see then or find out about them.

Chapter 19- Jen gives Luke some books and print out about the population police. Luke and Dad played rummy together. Then Luke goes back to Jen's to talk about the book she gave him.

Chapter 20- Since it was snowing Luke was afraid he might not see Jen for a while. Then they start to talk about fake ID's  when he goes to visit Jen again. Jens says there is three months untill the rally.
