Appearance

The zebra is striped black and white. It has a short upright mane. Its shoulder height is 50 inches and it weighs about 500-600 pounds.


Range

The zebra can be found from the Northern Zimbabwe to Sudan, East Africa.


Habitat

The zebra prefers to be in grasslands, especially with scattered trees.


Food/Diet

Zebras like to eat grasses, mainly grass stems and sheaths.


Breeding

The males aren't mature enough until they are 5 to 6 years old, although at zoos breeding may occur at 3 years of age. Females have first estrous at 13-18 months but don't become fertile for another year. The gestation period is 361-390 days.


Status

The mountain zebra is extremely endangered, we must stop this!
