Appearance

This animal is part of the white tailed prairie dog group. It has a short white tipped tail and light brown to yellow fur. The prairie dog grows up to 16 inches and weighs up to 2.5 pounds.


Range

The Utah prairie dog is found in Utah.


Habitat

This animal prefers to live in prairies.


Food/Diet

The prairie dog eats all vegetables except alfalfa.


Breeding

Breeding occurs in March or April. The prairie dogs must be two years or older to mate. The gestation period is 30 days.


Status

This animal was brought out by poisoning and shooting.
