Appearance

The Jaguar is a very stocky animal that has a broad head and tail. The fur color is a tawny yellow with dark black spots on its head, neck, and rings on its body. The length is 4-6 feet and the tail is 30 inches long and usually weighs between 170-225 pounds.
 
 


Range

It lives in southwestern United States, Central America, and Northern America.


Habitat

This beautiful creature lives in the tropical rain forest and arid scrub, and wet grasslands. They also prefer dense forest swamps and water at the ready.


Food/Diet

It feeds on small prey such as capybara, peccary and will eat larger animals such as cattle. Sometimes they will even eat reptiles.


Breeding

The jaguar has a gestation period of 100 days and a litter of 1-4 cubs. They stay with their mother for about 2 years.

Status

They are very endangered and many extinct except in zoos. They are very rare to be seen.
