
Appearance
This very large wild cat has a color of light brown. Usually the length of males can reach up to 8 feet while females are still at 6 feet. Their total weights 220 pounds for males and 140 pounds for females.
Range
Since it is called the eastern cougar it lives
in the eastern part of the United States of America.
Habitat
There is really no specific habitat but just a large area of wilderness.
Food/Diet
These amazing have to eat to live so they munch on white-tailed and mule deer. Their diet even consists of bighorn sheep and pronghorn antelope. Even though their prey is a whole lot bigger they can still conquer elk and moose. When their best prey isn't around they satisfy themselves with hares, porcupines, rodents, and livestock.
Breeding
Eastern cougars can and will mate anytime of the year. After mating the male departs and takes no responsibilities for raising the young. The gestation period is 84 days to 106 days, but usually consists of only 94 days. The cubs weigh about 1/2 a pound and are about 10-13 inches long. Their eyes open in 2 weeks after being born and leave their mother at an age 20-21 months old.
Status
It has been endangered since June 4, 1973.
