Appearance

In order for the cheetah to run 70 mph in short periods of time it has to have a slender body with a small head and very long legs. These long legs help carry the cheetahs body of 90-140 pounds 24 feet in 1 stride. It has a body height close to 30 inches and about 140-220 inches long. This huge cat has a special spine so it will flex when the cheetah is springing up. Their color is a yellowish orange with black spots everywhere even on its tail.


Range

The cheetah lives in the open area of southern and eastern Africa.


Habitat
Pasture land.


The cheetah prefers the wide-open grasslands so they will have an enough roam to run and around all day.
 
 

Food/Diet

The powerful cheetahs love to eat gazelles, young calves, antelopes, and some game birds. These cats like to stalk their prey until they are close enough to burst into action.




Breeding

Cheetahs do not have regular breeding seasons like most other wild cats do. Once the gestation period of 90-95 days is over 1-8 cubs will be born. Just like us when cheetahs are born they weigh about 8 ounces, have no teeth, and their eyes are closed.


Status

Cheetahs now only live in central and southern Africa. There is fewer than 9,000-20,000 in the whole world left.
