
Appearance
The brown bear usually has a brown coat of fur, but sometimes the tips of all the hairs are silver. Males are about 3 feet tall, but 6-7 feet long coming in at 300-400 pounds; females however are smaller. Each bear has a hump on their back causing it to look like a minature camel. Their claws are 4 inches long.
Range
Mainly in North America but their are very few in Colorado.
Habitat
Very cold, snowy and sometimes mountainess lands with rivers everywhere so they can get their fish.
Food/Diet
Grizzlies don't eat everything like alligators only currion, fruit, young shoots, roots, bulbs, fish, larval, and adult insects, seldom do they eat hoofed animals unless they stumble on an elk calve or fawn.The bigger prey is usually rodents.
Breeding
July is the grizzlies breeding period with a total of 26 weeks for a gestation period. Females first breed at 3 1/2 years of age, produce every other year.
Status
This beautiful creature is very endangered
in Colorado and will be everywhere if we don't make a move.
