
Appearance
The Asian Wild Ass is somewhat smaller than the African species and
has much smaller ears. Its height is around 4.1 feet. It is usually reddish
brown in skin color, may also be yellow or gray. It can reach a speed up
to 43mph, and is capable of maintaining a pace of about 15mph for as long
as 2 hours.
Range
It lives in the Mongolian Great Gobi Desert.
Habitat
The ass prefers a semi-desert region where it is hot, but has many
plants and animals. Grass is also a big part where this mammal lives. The
terrain they are living on is very steep.
Food/Diet
The Asian Wild Ass is a herbivore, so it eats only plants.
Breeding
The mating period is during the rainy season and the female has only 1 foal about a year or so later.
Status
Only about 1,000 individuals remain of this highly fast creature.
