Appearance
This creature has the length of 16 feet from the tip of
the nose all the way down to its tail. As they grow older their skin turns
a blackish or grayish color instead of yellow, as they are young.
Range
They live all along the land of the Gulf of Mexico.
Habitat
Preferably they live in freshwater swamps and marshes.
Also you can find them in rivers, lakes and other smaller bodies of water.
Food/Diet
They will eat just about anything that is close enough. If the alligator can, it will eat the carcass of another animal. Alligators will eat at anytime unless the water temperature is 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
Breeding
Every breeding period the female will usually lay 20-30
eggs in a potting nest made of old plants and mud. Then after she lies
she will cover up the eggs for protection. When they hatch in 65 days she
takes them to the water. Some will even stay with their mother as long
as 3 years.
Status
The alligator has come back a long ways.
