  John Cabot

 

Cabot was born in Genoa, Italy. He was born in 1450 and died in 1498. In 1496 King Henry VII of England agreed to finance his trip. Cabot reached either Newfoundland or Cape Breton Island (part of Nova Scotia) in 1497. He thought that he had found Asia. Obviously, he hadn't. But, he had found some great fishing and the Grand Banks. He was the first to discover N.A.(North America) for England. On his second trip back to the Americas, his boat and three others disappeared. No one knows what became of him.
