The wild ferret is called a Black-footed ferret. It resembles the brown skunk. Ferrets have nearly been extinct because of farmers who killed the prairie dogs, which is the number one food of the ferrets. There are now 150 ferrets in America. Ferrets are related to skunks, weasels, and otters. Ferrets live to be from 6 to 10 years of age. Ferrets have an odor just like skunks. Ferrets change colors every season. A male is called a hob, a female is a Jill, and a baby is a kit. They eat fruits and vegetables as treats. |
