3d Cookies

 

 

  1/3 cup (150g) "M&M's"® Chocolate Mini Baking Bits

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened

1/3 cup (150g) granulated sugar

  2 tablespoons (28mL) firmly packed light brown sugar

  1 large egg

1/2 teaspoon (2.5 mL) vanilla extract

  1-1/2 (675g) cups all-purpose flour

  1/2 teaspoon (2.5 mL) baking powder

  1/8 (.63mL) teaspoon salt

Assorted food colorings

Decorating Glaze:

3 cups (1350g) powdered sugar

          3 egg whites

 

     Instructions:

 

    In a large bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy.  Then beat in egg and vanilla.   In small bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt; then blend into creamed mixture.  Wrap bowl and refrigerate 2 to 3 hours.   Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).  Working with half the dough at a time on a lightly floured surface, roll into 1/8 inch (3 mm) thickness.  Cut into pairs of desired shapes using a 3 inch (7.6 cm) cookie cutters.  Re-roll trimmings and cut out more cookies. Place cutouts 1 inch (2.54 cm) apart on ungreased cookie sheets.  Bake 7 to 9 minutes.   Immediately cut 1 cookie of each pair in half vertically.  Cool on cookie sheets 1 minute; cool completely on wire racks.

 

Instructions for Decorating Glaze:

   By combining powdered sugar and egg whites in medium bowl until smooth.  Color glaze with food colors as desired.  Pour glaze over backs of cookies and then let set.  spread line of glaze down the cut edge of the cookie.  Press the half-cookie to middle of the whole cookie, and then let set.  Repeat with each remaining half of the cookie, attaching half cookie attaching the half cookie to back of the whole cookie.  Using the glaze to attach, decorate cookies with "M&M's"® Chocolate Mini Baking Bits.   Store in tightly covered container. 

            Makes 18 3d cookies.
