When most people think of sharks, they think of big, mean creatures with sharp teeth.
Sharks are very good predators, but only a few species out of the three hundred seventy-five are a danger to people. In fact, you have a better chance of being struck by lightning than being attacked by a shark.
Sharks range in size from the dwarf shark, 6.5 inches long, to the whale shark, over 40 feet long. Half of the species are less than 3.3 feet long. This web page was designed to tell you the truth about sharks in general and about some of the special sharks.
