Hello Dearies,
I'm Grandma Gummie. I'm here to give you some helpful hints on how to get yourself out of "sticky" situations with gum. Also, I added in some bonus tidbits for your enjoyment. So, here are some tips for getting unstuck. I hope you find the information you are looking for. Thank you, and have a nice day children!
These are the areas that you can receive help in:
- How to get gum out of your hair
- How to get gum out of your clothes
- How to get gum out of your carpet
*Bonus Areas*
- How to make your gum flavor last longer
- How to "Jazz Up Your Gum"
*Warning: These tips are not guaranteed to work.
As always, ask an adult's permission before attempting to try any of these tips.
How to get gum out of your hair:
To remove gum from your hair, first take a piece of ice or an ice cube and rub it against the gum in your hair. That way, the gum will get cold and dry up. Do this several times until the gum is out of your hair. If that doesn't work, spread peanut butter on the gum, then wash it out. Or try to pick it out bit by bit, then take a shower. If that doesn't work, ask an adult to help you cut the gum out. Do not try this idea first.
How to get gum out of your clothes:
To remove gum from your clothing, first try pulling it bit by bit off the clothing. Try to pull it off in one piece. Then, wash it in water and soap. Another method is to seal the dry clothing in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer. After the garment is frozen, take it out of the freezer and scrape the gum off gently with a dull knife. If that doesn't work, try scraping any excess gum with a dull knife, then rub the area with ice until the extra gum rolls off into a ball. There are also natural solvent extracts from citrus peel that may work. First, be sure to test the solvent on a separate piece of cloth so the colors don't run, and read the manufacture's instructions before use. If the gum leaves a stain on your clothes, buy this solvent called "Carbona". Roll "Carbona" over the stain. It should go away after you rub it on a few times. If that doesn't work, which it should, put the garment in the wash.
How to get gum out of your carpet:
To remove gum from your carpet, try scraping any excess gum off with a dull knife. If that doesn't work, scrub vigorously with soap and water. Here's another solution, cut out a square of sand paper and rub it against the gum. If worst comes to worst, trim some of the gum out with scissors.
*Bonus*- How to make your gum flavor last longer:
With original flavored gum:
You Will Need: ice, sugar, powdered sugar, and a small plate
- First, chew the gum a little. Start to rub the ice on the gum and suck on the ice.
- Put 2 pinches of sugar in your mouth on the gum. Keep putting the ice and sugar on the gum and do it about 5 times.
- Put a mixture of regular sugar and powdered sugar on a small plate. Take your gum out and roll it in the sugar mixture until covered.
- Put it in your mouth and repeat the rolling about 3 times or more.
- Put the ice in and chew.
Your flavor should last longer than ever!
