Lizards

Lizards are reptiles. They live in the warmest parts of the world in deserts and rainforests and jungles.  Some people think that dinosaurs were lizards because the name dinosaur means terrible lizard.  The biggest lizard is the Komodo Dragon which lives in Indonesia.  The tiniest lizard is a gecko found in the Caribbean.  It is 1.5 inches long..
There are 3,750 different kinds of lizards in the world.  Some eat insects.  The biggest lizards eat pigs and deer.  Some lizards are herbivores, or vegetarians, which means they only eat plants.

APPEARANCE
Lizards are covered in scales. They can have spikes, horns, frills and crests. They look very exotic. Some are smooth and some have horns.  They all have tales.  Some lizards have four legs, some have two legs and some have none.

HOW DO LIZARDS ACT?
Some lizards flick their tongue out to "taste" the air and pass all of the flavors that they smell to an organ in their mouth.
Lizards are cold blooded.  They like to bask in the sun.

Lizards can be  born in two different ways. Most lizards lay eggs.  The lizard eggs are soft and pliant like leather.  Other lizards are born live.
