Northern Red Oak
(Quercus rubra)
Fall leaf color: dark red and brown
Habitat: moist woods with other species.
Wood Uses:Flooring, furniture, interior finish, plywood for cabinet work, crossties, pilings, and fuel.
Wildlife Uses: Same as for a white oak.
HIstorical Uses: In addition to those uses for white oak , northern red oak was used for roof shakes.
