Normandy was where all of the beaches were located. The beaches were Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno, and Sword. The United States wasn't the only country at D-Day. In fact, there were three countries involved in the D-Day invasion. Britain and Canada helped in the invasion. The British troops handled the Gold beach and Sword beach invasions. Canada handled the the Juno beach invasion. The United States handled the Omaha and Utah invasions. The United States had the idea of D-Day. We had the hardest invasion because Omaha and Utah had the most German troops at them. In fact, D-Day wasnt the only time the Higgins Boats were used. They were used at five famous invasions of WWII. D-Day was one of the five. The other four were North Africa, Salerno, Sicily, and Anzio. If D-Day were called by where it was, It would be called the Normandy Invasion. Some people call it that.
