Imagine a man that built the most simple boats you could think of. Imagine a man that built a boat that was one of the main reasons for winning WWII. This mans name is Andrew Higgins. Andrew Jackson Higgins was the creator of the LCVP, (Landing Craft Vehicle Personnel). In 1938, Andrew Jackson Higgins was the owner of a boat yard in New Orleans, Louisiana. There were fewer than seventy-five employees. After five years, his company grew from one to seven plants and employed more than twenty thousand people. Since Higgins designed and produced assault crafts very quickly, he was awarded the largest shipbuilding contract in history. Andrew Higgins predicted a war fought throughout the world. Right after his prediction, he started building many boats to be prepared. While World War II was going on, Higgins industries made 20, 094 boats. They built 92.9 percent of the navy boats. They made an assortment of boats like the 36 foot LCVP, the super- fast PT boats, the rocket-firing landing craft support boats, and many more. Higgins wanted the allied soldiers to have the best boats possible. Many people say they were the finest boats in the world. Andrew Higgins was a very hard working man. During World War II, Adolf Hitler was even aware of Higgins, calling him the, "New Noah." Andrew Jackson Higgins and his industries were one of the main reasons for winning World War II.
