By: Chris Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun. It is about 2,798,800,000 miles from it. Neptune is 30,800 miles in diameter. Its year lasts 165 Earth years. The day on Neptune is 16 hours and 7 minutes. The temperature on Neptune is usually 350 degrees F. That is cold! Thats because it is so far away from the sun. Neptune has eight known satellites. The largest is Triton. Tritons diameter is 1,680 miles. Triton has a very icy crust. The smallest is Naiad. Naiad is 36 miles in diameter. Triton was discovered in 1846. Naiad was discovered in 1989 along with five other satellites. Neptune has three rings around it that cant be seen without a telescope. Neptune was discovered in 1843 by a mathematician named John C. Adams.
