MARS

There are four inner planets. Mercury, Venus, Earth, and last but not least, Mars. Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. It is about 142,437,500 miles from the sun.

Mars also has two moons, Phobos and Deimos. Phobos is the largest of them. It is about 14 miles in diameter. Deimos is about 7.5 miles in diameter. Mars also had a volcano named Olympus Mons. Olympus Mons at the bottom is the size of England! But it’s extinct now.

The Martian day lasts almost the same amount as our day, but a little bit longer. But that’s nothing, the Martian year lasts nearly twice as long! Can you believe it?! Twice as long!

Mars has two ice caps. One in the north and one in the south. The one in the north is mostly made up of frozen water. The one in the south is made up of solid carbon dioxide.

Many people have thought of life being on Mars. But I guess we’ll never know.
