The city of Tombstone is located in the desert region
of Arizona. Tombstone became an official city when Arizona became a state on
February 14, 1912. Tombstone was originally in Mexico. Then Arizona bought a
part of Mexico on December 30,1853.
That purchase was called the Gadsden
Purchase.
Tombstone is known for its mining and gunfights. Those gunfights took place at the O.K. Corral. The town Tombstone is nicknamed “The Town Too Tough to Die.” It is nicknamed that because it has survived all of the fires and floods at the mines.
This Indian tribe is known for their kachina dolls.
