Thirty Mile Point Lighthouse is located in Barker, New York, on Route 18. The Lighthouse was built because of dangerous sandbars that became quite treacherous for ships and vessels. The first light was put in during the year 1876. In 1958 the doors were closed until 1998. Today it is still open for tours, Memorial Day through Labor Day, free of charge. At Thirty Mile Point Lighthouse one of the activities is the nature trails that starts at the lighthouse and end at Golden Hills Creek.
