The Coretta Scott King Award

The Coretta Scott King Award is given every year to authors and illustrators of Aferican decent whose books promote the "American Dream." The award remembers the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and honors his widow Coretta Scott King. Winners of the award receive a framed citation, an honoraium, and a set of encyclopedias.
