Copan |

Copan was a very large Mayan city, and is located in Honduras. Copan has a sacred ball court that is VERY ancient! Also, Copan has the Hieroglyphic staircase with a LLLOOONNNGGG stone inscription. (And I mean long!). It was built in year 743. It tells the story of the ancestors of the King named Smoke Shell. |

The large number hieroglyphic texts at Copán is amazing. The texts at Copán, nearly all on large stone stelae or altars, have given scholars a large amount of hieroglyphics to be compared and studied. |
