From Our World To Theirs

The Maya were especially interested in the planet Venus. It seems that the Maya were not so much concerned with the day-to-day movements of the planet but with its' average cycle over long periods of time.

 Venus was the planet to which the Mayans attached great importance in their rituals of death and resurrection. In its incarnations as Evening Star and Morning Star, Venus represented the transition from the mortal world to the after-life.
