District of Columbia (Washington D.C.)
The Homestead Grays were first located outside of Pittsburgh, where they
dominated the Eastern baseball scene. From 1937-1945, they won nine straight
pennants. During World War II, the Grays played their home games at both Forbes
Field in Pittsburgh, and Griffith Stadium in Washington, D.C. when the white
teams were out of town. They played 17 seasons.
