In 1947, Branch Rickey offered Jackie Robinson a major league contract to the
Brooklyn Dodgers.
His offer was accepted and this was the breaking of the color barrier.
Robinson was an excellent base stealer. He
stole home many times, which is usually the most difficult base to steal.
In one game against the Montreal Royals, Robinson got four hits,
including a home run, and two stolen bases.
Jackie was the first African-American to play Major League Baseball in
the twentieth century, to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, win the Most
Valuable player award, and the first to play in a World
Series.
