Concentration Camps

Image of the letter During World War II in many countries, the Jews were being tortured by Nazis. They were being sent to horrible work places. These were called "Concentration Camps." They were also called labor camps, relocation camps, and reception camps. Families were torn apart. Children were killed in the gas chambers. All the while Adolf Hitler was becoming the most destructive man in the world.

People that were forced to go to the concentration camps weren't only Jews. The vicitims came from all over Europe. They came from Norway, France, the Low Countries, Italy, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, Yugoslavia, and Greece. During WWII, German Nazis imprisioned seven to eight million people, mostly European Jews. By 1945, Nazis had murdered about 6 million of the people in theaz camps by firing squads. Some were killed by starvation and diseases. Most died from the poison in the gas chambers.
