Sightings
A lot of people have reported seeing the creature. Others say they could hear its terrible screams from the woods, and in some places in the Barrens, strange footprints were found. The Jersey Devil was even accused of killing large numbers of chicken and sheep. Many people who lived in the Pine Barrens were afraid of going out after dark because of the Jersey Devil. During the week of January16th-23rd, 1909, the Jersey Devil left the Pine Barrens and wandered around more populated regions surrounding the Barrens. E.W. Minster woke up at about 2:00 AM on January 17, 1909, by a strange noise. He ran to the window just in time to see the Jersey Devil fly past. After E.W. Minster saw the monster, he went to reporters.
