Appearance

One general description of the monster says it has a body
of a horse, wings like a bat, horse- or pig-like feet, and a forked or pointed tail.  Although the description of the Jersey Devil makes it sound like a joke, it was no joke to the people of the Pine Barrens.

E.W. Minster said that the head resembled that of a
ram, with curled horns, and its long, thick neck was thrust forward in flight.  It had long, thin wings, and short legs, with the front ones shorter than the hind.  The sound that the Devil made was a combination of a squawk and a whistle.
