
Former Cryptids
The following are all former cryptids: the Baird’s Tapir discovered in
Panama in 1863; the mountain gorilla discovered in Rwanda in 1902; the Chacoan
Peccary discovered in Paraguay in 1975; Kouprey discovered in Cambodia in 1937
and rediscovered in 1982; the Komodo Dragon discovered on Indonesian Island in
1912; the Przewalski’s Horse discovered in Mongolia in 1881; and the Giant
Gecko was discovered in a French museum in 1984; the gorilla was discovered in Gabon in 1847; the Giant Panda was discovered in
China in 1869; the Okapi (a zebra/horse) discovered in Congo, Africa in 1901; the Giant Forest Hog was discovered in Kenya in 1904; the
Pygmy Chimpanzee was discovered in the Belgian museum in 1929; the Coelacanth (a type of fish) was discovered in South African waters in
1938; the Megamouth (a type of water-filtering shark) was discovered off the coast of Hawaii in 1976; the Spindelhorn (a type of goat
mixed with an antelope) was discovered in Vietnam in 1992.
