It is very important how gladiators where trained and kept. The gladiators were trained in a ludi or a gladiator training school. They found most of the prospective gladiators in the local jails or as fighting warriors. The gladiators would always fight each other with weapons. Whenever they trained, they would use just their hands and feet. If a gladiator ever made a mistake while training, the punishment would be very severe and they would get a lot of beatings. They were kept in underground chambers when they were not training. They would take guys out of the military, or take criminals out of a local jail, some were slaves and some would even fight for the money and popularity. Usually their first lesson for training with new recruits was hand-to-hand combat. If they did fight with weapons while training, the weapons would always be wooden. To go into battle, the gladiators had to learn a lot of training. They would all receive the same beatings when they made a mistake. Training sessions were very brutal. A new troop would become a warrior-slave. They would all evolve into fearsome warriors. For all the years, the gladiators would fight only for the pleasure of Rome.
