Another
famous woman of Kansas City was Esther Swirk Brown. She was born in 1917. She
was a Civil Rights Activist. Esther was a white Jewish house wife. One day she
saw what poor condition that Africa American schools were in. Some Black schools
had only two teachers for the entire school. On top of that most buildings were
about to collapse and some had only outdoor plumbing. In the fight for equal
rights the white housewife was assisted by Thurgood Marshall. Esther Swirk Brown
died in1976.
