One of KC’s famous women is Elizabeth Newcom. She was a Mexican War soldier. After the war she returned to America and went to get the 160 acres of land she was entitled to for being in the war. When she arrived they told her that because she was a woman she may not have the land. After giving her reasons to the government the said that she may have the land. This woman stood up for what was right and she received what was rightfully hers.
